Expressões com POWER

Diz-se em inglês que:

 Knowledge is power - Conhecimento é poder!

Money is power - Dinheiro é poder 

Expressão: power trip

É usada para falar de alguém que deixou o poder subir à cabeça e anda abusando um pouco da autoridade: 

My boss is on a power trip again.  [Meu chefe está "abusando da autoridade"]

Expressão:more power to you!

É usada para, vamos dizer, parabenizar alguém quando a pessoa toma uma atitude corajosa, ou toma uma decisão difícil, daquelas que requerem um pouco de coragem. Exemplo:

(Mary) I finally told my boss how I felt about I felt about this company, and then I quit!
(John) Hey, more power to you! I’m happy to hear that.

O que aconteceu ali é que a Mary, que provavelmente estava descontente com o emprego já fazia algum tempo, finalmente tomou a decisão de dizer ao chefe como ela se sentia e então pediu demissão. O John, que provavelmente estava a par da situação da Mary, respondeu com “More power to you!“. Como você entende essa expressão? A gente pode traduzi-la como “Fez muito bem!
